Welcome to Yesterday’s Bliss – I’m so glad you’re here.
When someone asks, “Tell me a little about yourself,” I always feel like it’s a bit of a trap. There’s the quick version, and then there’s the long, winding road that includes every twist and turn—and I never know which one people actually want. So, for our purposes here, I’ll give you something in between.
My name is Amy. Together, my husband and I share a beautifully chaotic life with six children and two grandchildren.
While many people wrestle with the idea of parenthood and wonder when they’ll be “ready,” I always knew. I dreamed of being a mother from a young age. That dream became urgent when I was diagnosed with endometriosis and learned time wasn’t exactly on my side. By 21, I had two children and had undergone a partial hysterectomy, believing my motherhood journey had come to an early end.
Spoiler: it didn’t.
Years later, newly remarried, I was given the gift of more children—twins, thanks to an extraordinary gestational surrogate. Life got busier and louder, but my heart got fuller. I often say I’m not the best wife (my relationship history backs that up), but motherhood? That part fits me just right. I found my soulmate in my 40s—ironically, right after I swore off dating—and together, we’ve built the big, blended family I always dreamed of. My heart couldn’t be more full.
So, what do I do? A little bit of everything.
I’ve been a gymnastics and cheer coach since I was 19—working with kids of all ages, running my own choreography business, and coaching competitive teams in both cheer and gymnastics. My last coaching gig had me leading Level 1, 2, and 3 gymnastics, with my twins training under me and my older son coaching by my side. That gym was family in every sense of the word.
I’m also a writer. That passion started in childhood and was fueled by a brilliant theater teacher who helped me write my first play in high school. Since then, I’ve dabbled in magazine writing, screenplays, and television series. And because I like to keep things interesting, I’m also a certified personal trainer—so helping people feel strong and healthy is part of my world, too.
You might say focus isn’t my strong suit. But passion? Creativity? Helping others? I’m all in.
I never expected to start over in my 40s, but life had other plans—and I’m grateful. I’ve been able to reflect on the past, make (hopefully) wiser choices, and lean into a future filled with meaning, joy, and a little bit of chaos. Now in my 50s, I’m navigating a season of life that my mother and grandmother never talked much about—and I’m grateful to be living in a time when women are finally sharing their stories, lifting each other up, and embracing every chapter.
This blog won’t stick to one lane. It’ll be a little bit of everything—just like me. Whether you’re a parent, single, married, divorced, dating, a fitness junkie, a Netflix binger, a meal prepper, or someone who keeps promising to start that workout “Monday”… you’ll find something here that speaks to you.
So, thanks for being here. I’m thrilled to have you along for the ride.
Welcome to Yesterday’s Bliss.
